Djehuty

The “Proyecto Djehuty” aims at the excavation, restoration, scientific publication and dissemination of a group of funerary monuments and burials of middle and upper class individuals, on the hill of Dr Abu el-Naga, at the northern end of the necropolis of the ancient city of Thebes, today Luxor, Egypt. The project pioneered the development of "digital epigraphy" techniques, i.e. the drawing of inscriptions and scenes from high resolution photographs and using vector drawing programmes on them.

Contribution to the DH:

  • The project pioneered the development of "digital epigraphy" techniques, i.e. the drawing of inscriptions and scenes from high resolution photographs and using vector drawing programmes on them.
  • The research and dissemination work of the project was recognised by the Spanish Geographical Society with the 2006 Research Award, and in 2012 Madridiario awarded us the prize for the "cultural initiative".
