Estructura Social y Territorio. Arqueología del Paisaje (EST-AP)

Several projects are approached from the historical reading of landscapes, both in their spatial coordinates and in their temporal dimension. The group is involved in the development of innovative methodologies and work techniques, which guarantee both the correct treatment of the register and an adequate research strategy. This applies to the study of social change between the Iron Age and Roman domination. Research is also directed at the conversion of landscapes into sustainable resources.

Contribution to the DH:

Georeferenced digital information: modelling of the landscape and study of its evolution through the digitalisation of the current terrain for the computerised recreation of the orography and land uses in the past; intensive use of topographic methods (GPS and total station), GIS and remote sensing; generation of orthophotos and micro-scale mapping with UAVs (drones) combined with the use of modelling software (Pix4D and similar) for the generation of 3D models; integration in GIS and SDI of multidisciplinary information sources oriented towards geo-archaeological and palaeo-environmental analysis (palynology, carpology, soil science, etc...).
