Intergenerational welfare spaces
Regional disparities in healthy longevity and transfers between generations
The increase in well-being in old age has led to the strengthening of an intense network of transfers within the family. This potential for intergenerational support is far from being homogeneous across the territory, and depends to a large extent on the place of residence of the elderly.
In this project, welfare in old age is seen as a resource for the whole society, with redistributive effects between generations. The analysis of the geography of intergenerational well-being allows us to identify the components responsible for territorial intergenerational well-being deficits, to identify target populations for active policies to reduce imbalances and, finally, to provide a measure that synthesizes the multiple dimensions of intergenerational well-being in each territory.
The overall objective of this project is to analyze territorial imbalances in autonomy and transfers (with origin or destination) in old age and to contribute to the reduction of territorial differences in the state of well-being in old age and potential intergenerational support.
