EXTERSIAL I y II

Project I: Territorial Externalities in Local Agri-Food Systems. Rural Development, Landscapes and Public Goods in olive oil designations of origin.
Project II: Local agri-food systems and public goods. Analysis and valuation models of territorial externalities in olive oil designations of origin.

Extersial

EXTERSIAL are two consecutive research projects of the National Plan whose initial objective was the analysis and assessment of the territorial externalities created by collective action in Local Agri-Food Systems (SIAL), to contribute to the decision-making processes inherent to public policies that reward the reduction of negative externalities and the stimulation of positive ones.
Territorial externalities are the costs or benefits that the development of an economic activity, in our case the production of olive oil with protected designation of origin (PDO), generates on third parties and in general on the economy, society and the territory as a whole.
The second project is linked to the results of the first project, whose objectives have been to incorporate a general valuation model to the previous methodological proposal, which jointly integrates territorial externalities and commercial goods, in order to advance in the specification of the different specific methods of analysis and valuation, both for supply and demand, of the different types of territorial externalities (agro-environmental, socioeconomic and cultural), expanding the empirical base on territorial externalities in olive PDOs, as a requirement to enhance the inference of results, due to the high degree of variability existing both in the typology of olive agrosystems and local models of territorial governance.
The working areas of the first project were the PDOs of "Estepa" and "Sierra de Segura", which in the second project have had the role of pilot areas, incorporating the PDOs of "Sierra Mágina" and "Bajo Aragón" as new areas for the empirical analysis; a comparative analysis was also carried out on an international scale with the PDO of "Terre di Siena" (Tuscany).
